About the day

A day for the people
behind every learning moment.

World Teachers' Day was established by UNESCO in 1994 to celebrate the profession that makes every other profession possible. In Australia, we mark it on the last Friday of October.

Whether they taught us to read, to think, to listen, or to dare — teachers shape us. This is the day we tell them so.

How to celebrate

Four ways to say thanks.

01

Write a Letter

A handwritten note from a former student means more than any flowers. Send one.

02

Share Online

Tag #ThankATeacher across Instagram and LinkedIn to publicly thank an educator who changed your life.

03

Host an Assembly

Schools and parents — use our free downloadable assembly pack to mark the day at your school.

04

Nominate
